Former Hickman deputy sentenced to 24 months in federal prison in civil rights abuses

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -A former Hickman County deputy sheriff will spend the next 24 months in prison after he was convicted on charges of civil rights violations and making false statements.

Kenneth H. Smith, 43, was sentenced Friday in federal court on the charges to which Smith pleaded guilty in June.

While working as a deputy sheriff, Smith was assigned to investigate two domestic violence complaints. During the investigation, Smith told two female victims that he needed to photograph parts of their unclothed bodies to document injuries, including intimate areas of their bodies where no injury had occurred, a court statement says.
