Cleveland Police Officer appeals dismissal, cites “wrongful termination”, awaits decision, further action possible

A Cleveland police officer who was earlier dismissed appeared at an appeal hearing this week and awaits the decision of City Manager Janice Casteel regarding her firing.

According to Cleveland Police Chief Wes Snyder, Carla Suzanne Jackson is represented by attorney Gerald Tidwell of Chattanooga.

Jackson, who had been with CPD since 1992, was reportedly relieved from duty in late September after being placed on paid leave. According to Snyder, he called for an Internal Affairs investigation which was conducted by a Knoxville Police Department detective.

Snyder also said Jackson had reportedly failed to follow up or monitor several other cases; cumulatively, her performance resulted in her dismissal.

“We feel Jackson was wrongfully terminated and will wait for the city manager to make her decision before pursuing this case further,” Tidwell said.–awaits-decision?instance=homefirstleft
