Dismissal Sought in Beale Street Police Brutality Arrest

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Memphis man who claims police brutality after his arrest last month on Beale Street wants his charges dismissed.

22-year old Jarrell Williams appears in court Friday morning for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, but he says the police are the ones to blame because they unfairly arrested and beat him.

“I really truly do respect AC Wharton and Toney Armstrong for launching an investigation, but at the same time I am still weary of everybody and everything.”

Nearly two weeks after his run in with officers on Beale Street, Jarrell Williams says he still hasn’t gone to the Memphis Police Department’s Internal Affairs Bureau to file a complaint because he doesn’t trust police. He says his distrust is fueled by fear of filing the complaint with the same people he accuses of police brutality.
