THP Officer Fired For Neglect Of Duty

Nashville, Tenn. – A Tennessee Highway Patrolman is now off the job, accused of looking the other way for a local sheriff’s deputy who was allegedly driving under the influence.

Trooper D’Angelo Inman has been with THP for seventeen years.  On Thursday, he was handed his official letter of termination.

The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security says he was fired after an internal investigation regarding a traffic stop Inman made on September 28, 2011.

According to that investigation, Inman was patrolling Interstate 24 near mile marker 73, when he pulled over off-duty Rutherford County Sheriff’s deputy, who allegedly was driving under the influence.

Despite Inman’s suspicions, THP says he failed to administer a field sobriety test, and instead let the deputy go home.
