Rutherford Sheriff wants you to pay them, for collecting evidence to be used against you in court…

MURFREESBORO — Public Safety Committee discussion is set to continue tonight about a $100 fee the sheriff wants to charge convicted DUI offenders for blood draws done at the county jail.

The topic is expected to come back up after a Budget and Finance Committee decision earlier this month sent it back for reconsideration. The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. in suite 205 of the County Courthouse.

Rutherford County Sheriff Robert Arnold told a group of county commissioners at a Nov. 10 Budget and Finance Committee meeting that the jail is looking to recoup taxpayer money being spent to perform DUI blood draws at the adult detention center and more quickly free up officers who make DUI arrests. Arnold has previously said those officers usually spend in excess of two hours waiting at area hospitals for blood to be drawn there.|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE
