Former Wilson County Lieutenant Pleads Guilty

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- A Wilson County deputy gone rogue has admitted to some serious charges in federal court. John Patrick Edwards already faces state charges, but decided he didn’t want to go to trial and just pled guilty.

John Patrick Edwards had a promising career in law enforcement, until he found himself on the wrong side of the law. On Friday, Edwards the 39-year-old pled guilty to a charge that will put him in prison for a long time.

Friday in Federal Court he admitted to taking the cash in a move that could put Edwards in prison for up to 20 years.

Although the judge could sentence Edwards to jail for 20 years, the US attorney is suggesting a sentence of eleven years.

  1. Don’t know where you have been but good to have you back. Your web site was one of my first go to places for police accountability. Being a native Tennessan I appreciate what you do. Keep up the good work.

  2. Thanks!
