Judge Suggests Annual Mental Evaluations For Memphis PD Officers

(Memphis 02/09/2012) After a Memphis police officer is sentenced to eight years in prison, there are new questions about how the department evaluates officers to make sure they’re mentally fit.

This comes after statements made by a criminal court judge.

Convicted police officer Norman Benjamin’s personal and professional lives were so bizarre it sent Judge Paula Skahan into a tirade.

It led her to suggest he is the example of why the Memphis Police Department should examine its personnel policies.
