Several Hamilton County Jail Officers Under Investigation for Drugs

Several Hamilton County Jail officers are off the job, under investigation for drug infractions.

A spokesperson said the narcotics division first initiated the investigation on Dec. 12, 2011.

That investigation allegedly showed that Corrections Officers at the jail were involved in “criminal” conduct off-duty. The Hamilton County Grand Jury returned an indictment on Corrections Officer, Sandra Brown for Possession of Marijuana. Corrections Officer, Phillip Friar, who lives in Bradley County, was arrested there and also charged with Possession of Marijuana.

Brown and Friar are being placed on Administrative leave without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.

The investigation also led detectives to David Brian Wright, a relative of Corrections Officer Kimberly Thomas, who was also arrested following grand jury indictment for Possession of Marijuana.

Two additional, unidentified, Corrections Officers have been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the conclusion of the Internal Affairs investigation.
