Former ATF chief blasts Rutherford sheriff

The former special agent in charge of the Nashville office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives has accused Rutherford Sheriff Robert Arnold of allowing his officers to be trained as bigots.

Jim Cavanaugh criticized Arnold in a guest post for the Southern Poverty Law Center’s HateWatch blog.

Deputies from Arnold’s office attended a three-day training this week put on by the Virginia-based Strategic Engagement Group. John Guandolo, one of the SEG trainers, has claimed Nashville’s mosques have no First Amendment right to exist.

“That statement alone is so anti-American on its face that no law enforcement executive should ever engage a trainer who would utter it, period,” wrote Cavanaugh. “It is so clearly in violation of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights that it strains any semblance of reality.”|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE
