Defendent whose drugs were stolen from HCSO evidence locker pleads guilty

ROGERSVILLE — A Hawkins County man arrested in 2010 with a large quantity of pills, methadone and marijuana pleaded guilty to a variety of drug trafficking charges last week, despite the fact that the drugs were stolen from the sheriff’s evidence storage locker.

Rogersville assistant attorney general Alex Pearson said Tuesday he believes out outcome of the case was as good as could be expected for the state considering the circumstances.

All of the above mentioned drugs were seized from Henegar’s home during a Dec. 22, 2010 raid conducted by the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office.

A few months later those drugs were stolen from the Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office evidence locker, allegedly by former narcotic detective Brad Depew who was working as a road deputy at the time.
