Metro officer resigns following DUI arrest
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -A Nashville police officer has resigned from the department following a DUI arrest that occurred earlier this year.
Arthur Messmer, a Midnight-shift Madison precinct patrol officer, was taken into custody on January 31 for being intoxicated during his shift.
The 44-year-old served as an officer for 20 years before he was decommissioned following his arrest.
Authorities said Messmer’s resignation ends an administrative investigation.
