Ex-Hawkins County officer arrested on drug charges
ROGERSVILLE (WATE) – A former Hawkins County corrections officer was arrested Tuesday morning on a felony drug charge.
Officials said they heard David Wayne Richards, 51, was going to deliver painkillers called Lortab at a Food Lion grocery store. He became the subject of a three-day investigation.
During a traffic stop, Richards cooperated with a search of his vehicle. Officers found 1,345 pills with a street value of $10,706, according to Sheriff Ronnie Lawson.
The drugs and the car were seized.
