Miami PD’s Homeland Security Bureau Was Monitoring Journalist FB Page Hours Before His Arrest
From Radley Balko:
Miami-Dade’s Homeland security cops were monitoring, warning one another about Carlos Miller. I know if I lived in Miami, I’d sleep more soundly knowing authorities were working hard to protect me from photographers who occasionally take photos of Miami police.
ADDED: For those who don’t know, Carlos Miller is a Miami based Professional Photo Journalist who runs the website “Photography Is Not A Crime”. He details and documents police who intuitionally (illegally) arrest both citizen journalists and professional journalists what document police officers in public, by photographing them or recording their activities. Both activities are protected under law as long as the officer is in public and you do not interfere with the discharge of their lawful duties.
