At least 2 dispatchers fired in probe of 911 Center messaging
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) — Channel 3 has confirmed that Hamilton County’s Emergency Communications District has fired at least two 911 dispatchers and suspended a third in the wake of an investigation into misuse of the Center’s instant-messaging system.
But the lawyer for the two dismissed, won’t identify his clients until he reviews more of the evidence against them.
“It’s not that they didn’t do their jobs or should have been doing their jobs,” attorney Gerald Tidwell says. “In other words, they weren’t failing to answer dispatch calls. These are experienced dispatchers who handle hot sections of the county.”
Tidwell tells Eyewitness News that the complaints of misuse likely came not from co-workers, but from managers.
