Jackson police officer fired over drug test

The city of Jackson has fired a police officer who was the first city employee to test positive for drug use in a random screening since the city began such tests in November.

Joe C. Allen, a probationary Jackson police officer, has been terminated from employment after he tested positive for marijuana in a random drug screening, said Jackson Mayor Jerry Gist on Tuesday.
