Ex-Hawkins Co. Judge Indicted On 41 Theft Charges

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says former Hawkins County General Sessions Court Judge James “Jay” Taylor has been indicted on 41 counts of theft.

The TBI said in a news release Thursday the 41-year-old Taylor, of Rogersville, filed numerous false claims with the Administrative Office of the Courts in Nashville requesting payment for services as legal counsel in cases where he did not perform legal services.

He was indicted in Davidson County where the Administrative Office of the Courts is located.
