Former officer pleads guilty to illegally accessing FBI database

MEMPHIS, TN -(WMC-TV) – A former Memphis Police officer pleaded guilty to federal computer fraud after the FBI zeroed in on him during a sting operation.

Former officer Sean Fritz pleaded guilty Monday morning to unlawfully accessing an FBI database.

He said he did it for a free vacation to Arkansas.

Fritz, 37, first posed for a mug shot in January when he was charged with computer fraud and lying to FBI agents.

Now, five months later, more details of his crimes are coming out after pleaded guilty to the charges in federal court.

According to Fritz, a confidential informant asked him for personal information about a local jeweler who he claimed had gone out of business in order to track down a watch.

Fritz said he unlawfully accessed the FBI’s National Crime Information Center to find the jeweler’s address and phone number.
