Police officer indicted by grand jury
LAUDERDALE COUNTY, TN -(WMC-TV) – A Halls, Tennessee police officer was indicted by a grand jury on charges of official misconduct and theft Tuesday.
Jason Colvin, 32, is accused of obtaining a handgun from a person known to be a convicted felon and attempting to sell the gun at a pawn shop. These incidents allegedly happened while he was working as a police officer.
Colvin is charged with three counts of official misconduct, theft of more than $500 but less than $1,000. He is also charged with accessory after the fact and facilitation of a felony and compounding.
He is being held in the Lauderdale County Jail. He was originally placed on paid leave from the Halls Police Department but is now on unpaid leave.
