Audio Dash Cam Catches Officers’ Racial Slurs

COOPERTOWN, Tenn.- Two police officers in a small Robertson County town have been accused of making derogatory racial slurs and it was all caught on their own police video.

Volunteer officers with the Coopertown Police are officers who carry badges, guns and have power to arrest. Early this week officers Robert McCormick and Richard Bishop were caught talking about an African American man involved in a traffic stop who filed a complaint against one of them.

“I think it’s a shocking display of the attitudes shown by these two officers about different races,” said Attorney Fletcher Long.

Those who have heard audio from the video said the conversation between the officers was extremely unprofessional. After the traffic stop the two men walked to the shoulder of the road and talked about an African American man who filed a complaint with the city about their conduct in the field.
