Family vacation prompts reprimand for KPD supervisor

Lt. Ron Green received a written reprimand for the incident after a woman took pictures of the family in a city vehicle in Hilton Head, S.C., records show. Green has been with the Knoxville Police Department since 1993.

The situation came to light in July after the Knoxville resident who also has a home in a coastal state took pictures of Green, his wife and two children riding in the car, according to Knoxville Police Chief David Rausch.

Rausch said the woman took a picture of the car’s license plate and a side view showing the family in the car. She emailed the pictures to the fleet services division for the city.

Fleet services was able to determine who had possession of the Ford Fusion in the picture and forwarded the email to the Police Department.

“Her concern was that city of Knoxville tax dollars were funding a family vacation,” Rausch said.
