Second Civil Rights suit filed vs. officer, city
For the second time in a year a plaintiff has sued Dickson police officers in federal court for excessive use of force.
Local attorney Tim Potter filed a $1 million Civil Rights lawsuit Sept. 26 in the U.S. District Court for Middle Tennessee on behalf ofEmmett J. Morphis.
Dickson police officers used tasers on Morphis, 23, of White Bluff, at least twice while responding to his Nov. 6, 2011 crash behind Speed Lube off Highway 46, according to the incident report.
The lawsuit names officer Rob Peeler and former Dickson Police Officer Seth Goodwin, along with “John Does” in reference to unidentified Dickson police officers, and the city of Dickson as defendants.
