Memphis police officer cited after crashing squad car in South Memphis

A Memphis police officer was cited after crashing his squad car in South Memphis early Wednesday morning.

At about 1:35 a.m., officer Marcus Fayne lost control of his vehicle at Kerr and South Parkway after striking a curb, police reported. The car also hit a yield sign and a utility pole.

Fayne was taken to Methodist Central Hospital in non-critical condition.

He was issued a citation for striking a parked vehicle or fixed object. Fayne was also cited for not wearing a seatbelt.
