Murfreesboro Officer Decommissioned After Child Abuse Charges
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – An officer with the Murfreesboro Police Department has been decommissioned after being indicted on misdemeanor child abuse charges.
Police department spokesperson Kyle Evans said Officer Anthony Whitehead went to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office to be served with the indictment rather than be served papers by a deputy.
Officials said Whitehead was decommissioned and placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of the case.
Details about the alleged child abuse were not available.
Whitehead was also decommissioned in March 2008 for an incident during a traffic stop. He was investigated for allegedly going too far during a traffic stop.
