Memphis police to review discipline policies after arrests of 20 officers this year
The city and the Memphis Police Department on Wednesday will announce a wide-ranging review of MPD policies in the wake of the arrests of 20 officers on various charges this year.
“The immediate issue is going to be the disciplinary process,” said Chief Administrative Officer George Little.
But Police Director Toney Armstrong “quite correctly sees the need to review all (MPD) policies,” Little added.
“What police would like to do is look at all their policies, and I would like us as a city to go through regular reviews of all our policies.”
The department and the city will announce the scope of the review and who will lead the effort on Wednesday.
